         Steel is a building material that does not burn, and it has the characteristics such as earthquake resistance, bending resistance, etc. However, steel as a building material has some unavoidable defects in terms of fire protection, and its mechanical properties, such as yield point, tensile resistance and elastic modulus, will drop sharply with the increase of temperature. The steel structure usually loses its bearing capacity at a temperature of 450~650 °C, and great deformation occurs, leading to bending of steel columns and steel beams, rendering them unusable due to excessive deformation; generally, the fire resistance limit of unprotected steel structure is about 15min. The length of this time is also related to the speed at which the component absorbs heat.

         1. Ultra-thin structural fireproof coating

          Ultra-thin steel structure fireproof coating refers to the coating thickness of 3 mm (including 3 mm), the decorative effect is better, can expand and foam at high temperature, the fire resistance limit is generally within 2 h of the steel structure fireproof coating, and the fire resistance performance of the ultra-thin steel structure fireproof coating new products. The application of ultra-thin intumescent steel structure fireproof coatings can be sprayed, brushed or roller applied. Due to the ultra-thin coating of this type of fireproof coating, the use of thicker and thin steel structure fireproof coatings is greatly reduced, thereby reducing the total cost of the project, and the steel structure has been effectively protected by fire, and the fire prevention effect is very good.

         2. Thin steel structure fireproof coating

          Thin-coated steel structure fireproof coating refers to the steel structure fireproof coating with a coating thickness greater than 3 mm, and less than or equal to 7 mm. With its fire resistance limit within 2 h, it has a certain decorative effect, expands and thickens at high temperature, and spraying is usually adopted in the related construction. However, with the emergence of ultra-thin steel structure fireproof coatings, the market share of this type of coating has gradually been replaced.

         3. Thick steel structure fireproof coating

          Thick steel structure fireproof coating refers to the steel structure fireproof coating with a coating thickness greater than 7 mm, and less than or equal to 45 mm. It assumes a granular surface; has relatively small density and low thermal conductivity; and its fire resistance limit is more than 2 h. It is mostly used for indoor and outdoor concealed steel structure, or high-rise all-steel structure and multi-story workshop steel structure, and spraying is usually adopted in the related construction.

          4. Mineral wool type fireproof and heat insulation coating for buildings

          The mineral wool type fireproof and heat insulation coating for buildings is another important fireproof coating series of products that appears after the thick coating type fireproof coating for buildings — perlite series, magnesium oxychloride cement series fireproof coating — came out. Compared with the perlite type fireproof coating, this type of mineral fiber has the following features: it can be used as thermal insulation fillers and can enhance the strength of the coating;it can be applied to earthquake-prone areas or buildings often affected by shocking, and can play the role of fire prevention, heat insulation and sound absorption. Fast-drying mineral wool fireproof coatings have been widely used abroad, and when used in construction sites with poor construction conditions, they have the advantages of convenient construction, low cost and short drying time, etc.
